Trying this again

So I realize what I previous post sounded to blunt for some people so I’m going to try this again.

For the record I’m just trying to see what other people’s opinions are on the subject. Who knows maybe my mind will be changed.

If your kin type is an animal that does not exist, you are not a therian. Yes or no?

If you have a kin type that doesn’t exist like a blue dog or a dragon you are called an other in? Yes or no?

I too are going to try this again.

The color of the animal doesn’t really make a difference. Today we can genetically alter cats to make them glow in the dark. So if someone was a glowing cat *before* this happened, does that mean they weren’t therian until now?

Your line of reasoning and exclusion goes down a very deep rabbit hole of assumption as to what existed before and what might exist in the future.

The only qualifier to qualify someone as therian, is if they identify as a type of animal that has been known to exist on Earth. And being a different color or being a hybrid with another animal does not remove that label IF they still have the therianthropic attributes of that animal.

And once again it is still possible to be both otherkin and therian.

Please don’t continue down the elitist road.

P.S. I should also note that it was actually through exploring my own fox nature that I discovered furry and I identified as therian first.

I see people complaining about tumblrkin, and how we need to “get rid of the bad members of our community”, but I rarely see these fabled beings. Are they real, or just glorified strawmen?

They are very real, but they’re in no way ‘bad members’ or malicious. They’re misinformed, perhaps a bit naïve, and, more often than not, new to the community. Fluffy ‘kin deserve all the same respect and decency with which you would treat any other person. But we also owe it to the rest of the community to give them a kind (if sometimes stern) explanation of what they might’ve misunderstood about otherkinity and how this all works.

Pushing people away from perhaps the only community they can fully relate to helps absolutely no one, but neither does ignoring fluff. It’s about finding the balance between acceptance and education.

I would have to say that it is actually a mix of trolls being so prevalent on tumblr (making thousands of kin blogs with designer genders and pronouns and dozens of kintypes) that they are defining otherkin for a generation, and then the legit kin out there who see only these examples on tumblr and running with it. It’s making being otherkin very difficult right now.

I’d give you a slow clap for how much of an absolute idiot you are, but I don’t want to make you feel as though you’re being belittled.

So– let me get this all straight.

You think a well-known troll blog that posts pride flags for terms like sapiosexual and metrosexual and made up terms like “frustrosexual” is, for lack of a better term, valid. You 100% support this blog and its posts as entirely real, true, and legitimate. From spectrosexual (wanting to fuck ghosts) to Nyctosexual (wanting to fuck the dark, as in, the actual lack of light) to Ecogender (your gender is somehow reflective of your local ecology, you think those are all genuine LGBT identities or LGBT identities proposed and created in 100% complete seriousness, with no ulterior motive.

You also pretty heavily focus on “kingender,” something which has been debunked as having no basis in the both the otherkin community nor LGBT community. This has been known as a farce by the greater otherkin community for literal years and I’d hope that anyone with a brain larger than a pea could be able to figure out that .

So because you’re a gullible moron who can’t be bothered to do any actual research into a community, you want to say that all otherkin are trans or consider themselves trans because they’re otherkin or some other horseshit.

That sound about right? Sweet, now, let’s go over where you went wrong in your commentary and criticism.

First off: plenty of otherkin are trans. Now, here’s a lesson in being trans! Since I clearly need to lay this out for you, because you somehow don’t already know this already–despite claiming to be trans yourself. If someone is trans….that says virtually nothing else about them beyond the fact that they’re trans. it means they probably experience dysphoria and that they may or may not be in the process of transitioning. But beyond that? Zip. Zero. Nada. If someone happens to be otherkin and trans, that does not mean that somehow, specifically for that person and that person alone who calls themself trans, that those identities intercept in any way. It doesn’t mean that the person calls themself trans because they’re otherkin. Much in the same way that the fact that you have the critical thinking skills of a 13 year old doesn’t have any relation to you being trans. Is it a part of your identitiy? Sure. Is your inability to think your way out of a paper bag what defines you as trans? Probably not.

Second: If you looked at the greater otherkin community and even just, oh, I don’t know, the basic definition of the word “otherkin” in the first place, you’d easily realize that otherkinity has no inherent relationship to gender. Nor sexuality. Nor romantic attraction. Nor whatever the hell else the kids are talking about these days, since I can’t be bothered to keep up with that crap closely. Anyone who claims otherwise is talking out their ass, a language I’m sure you’re proficient in.

Third: As someone who is trans and also otherkin, let me be the first–though undoubtedly not the last–to inform you that you’re not only wrong, but you’re also fucking stupid. Have you ever experienced dysphoria, by any chance? It’s one hell of a bitch to deal with, and with the way you can just completely ignore and dismiss my dysphoria and others in attempting to claim our identities manifest in different (and impossible) ways than they actually do….well, I just have to wonder how much of a transmed you actually are. I just have to raise an eyebrow at someone who claims to be transmedical and then goes on to tell people with dysphoria that their dysphoria isn’t the actual reason they’re trans.

I’m sorry, but those are definitely not troll blogs. I wish they were. A lot of my otherkin followers wish they were. But they are 100% not. They’re basically two cornerstones of the modern MOGAI movement. And it’s not the fault of @transmedical-boy that those sites so badly misrepresent both what it is to be trans and what it is to be otherkin. You don’t need to nastily spell out what being trans is or what otherkinism is supposed to be. We all know. The point is, these blogs don’t care what the actual meaning of any word is–they delight in playing fast and loose with objective reality.

Way to misrepresent what’s being said here. THey aren’t supporting MOGAI. They aren’t saying the terms are real, true, or legit. They’re saying that there are people who think these things. Those people are wrong, but they exist, and they are really harming both the otherkin and LGBT communities.

If you want to keep insisting that these aren’t trolls, you need a better argument than “well, their words are stupid and the otherkin community at large doesn’t accept kingender as legit.” A lot of the LGBT community doesn’t accept MOGAI as legit, either, but that doesn’t make them any less sincere in their promotion of dumb genders and sexualities. Wishing something to not be serious doesn’t change the fact that it is. Give me hard evidence that these people are trolls.

Some of those blogs are troll blogs. Some of them are tumblrkin who think this is what otherkin is, as taught by the troll blogs, some may be exploring their identity but thanks to the narrative on this site, don’t know any better..

But all of them have one thing in common. They are all wrong. None of them represent what otherkin is. Real otherkin do not Approve Their Message. You can get on their case all you want for all I care, but do not equate otherkin to their message. There are no designer pronouns here.

No True Kin places Any Stock in the Gender Conflations with Otherkin thus Specified Above.

I do believe that many tumblrkin do conflate gender and kinness but this is because they have learned about otherkin from troll blogs.

People who do this have no idea what otherkin really is. I would like to inform all that otherkin predates all these gender and orientation politics. It was NOT born on tumblr. It was born long before Tumblr was. Some people are trans and otherkin, but one is not directly connected to the other. You can be trans without being otherkin and be otherkin without being trans. Its not very hard to get.

Every time the two are conflated it damages the legitimacy of both as a concept, and the people who are doing it are either trolls or tumblrkin or trenderkin that do not know any better.

Edit 2: yeah yeah, whatever. I want you to know, everybody has canine teeth, so you aren’t a wolf. if you have hot breath, it doesn’t mean you are a dragon or a phoenix, it just means you are breathing really heavily.

I think you guys need to grow up a bit more, you can not be an animal, even if you spiritually think so. Just because you have a dream about a fox, doesn’t mean you truly are a fox, it just means your mind doesn’t want to or isn’t ready to deal with the real world and can’t comprehend the idea you are only human.

If you can walk on two legs naturally, you are a homosapien, a bipedal creature, a human being, a creature who can think. Because of this, your mind is making you believe you are something beyond what you truly are, because it is trying to protect you from the real world, the true fact that some day you will die, or that you are merely a human being who can’t protect themself naturally against nature, and you just want to believe you are something more and that you aren’t just a regular human.

At this point I have done a lot of research. For you otherkin who believe you are a creature that is either extinct or doesn’t exist, that is your mind being over-active, creating something that makes you think you are different. We know that Unicorns and Dragons don’t exist, so we have no clear vision of what they could actaully look like. For dragons, we only have mythology from Europe and China, again mythology. A myth, which literally means it is fake, just a story, not real. Same thing with fairies and goblins, they are merely just things we made up to either give us an idea of how the world came to be or so our kids didn’t do stupid things.

And for you who are people who believe that you are a real animal like a dog or a snake or an owl, here we go.

Like I hinted to before, the human brain is an amazing thing. It can withhold information to protect us, and even provide us with false information for our well-being. Even better, it can recongize things based off of smells or pictures and colors. It truly is an amazing tool that makes us humans truly amazing.

It is also extremely dangerous because of this, it can make us believe false things, like us being an animal like a wolf, fox, etc, etc. It does this to protect us from the harsh reality of the world. We are nothing but humans, but if we truly try hard enough our brain can be trained to make us believe we are something more.

This is what we call subliminal messages. Yes, you may know them as those videos on youtube with the fun sounds that are said to make you into a vampire or get you a book that grants wishes, these are only partially true. The ones that change physical feature like bust and butt size, or even eye color can and do work, but the ones that promise to give you beautiful white fangs or stuff like that are merely just messages that make your brain only believe that’s what you are or want to be. It’s not really changing you, you can’t actually change into a dog by listening to a video for 10 minutes.

And it doesn’t have to be a video. If you tell yourself enough times, eventually your mind will start to believe it, making you feel those things you believe is your angel wings or your fox tail, and by it’s name (phantom limbs) it is not there and never will be.

Now to the bad part. Like I said, the human brain is amazing, but once you get it to believe something, then it’s proven wrong, it goes into meltdown mode. It will do all it can to prove that it is right, whether it be amking up false facts or just continuosly telling you that you are something you are not. This can eventually lead to a mental shutdown, which can leave the person traumatized. This can lead to depression, anxiety, and many other things. Then the brain will try its hardest to protect you even more, which only makes things worse.

Otherkin community, this is not just to tel you that you are being an idiot, this is to help you’re mental health. If you keep believing you are somethingyou are not, eventualy you will become nothing but a shell. You will live the rest of your life scared and afraid of the real world, and possibly have a very early death.

Almost Feel Bad…

I almost feel bad for people who don’t believe in otherkin (almost) because while otherkin can have talks with demons, angels, gods, planets, an abundance of animals, etc non-believers are just stuck in mundane lives only able to talk to humans (or what they believe to be humans). I just feel like otherkin lives can be filled with so much fun, and adventures whereas non-believers lives are filled with only aspects brought on by humans. And yes otherkin face endless struggles from society and even themselves but I’m just pointing out a bright side to being otherkin. Never be ashamed of who you are, because being who you are is one of the greatest gifts in life.

TBH any witch worth their salt can have also have talks with nature and supernatural beings. Some humans are magickally awakened as well. It just happens to be more prevalent amongst otherkin because its basically a trait of what we are.

Additionally, otherkin find a greater level of acceptance amongst pagans and witches and are more likely to have beliefs that lie within wiccan or pagan systems, and its no coincidence. Theres a direct correlation between being otherkin and having an awareness of the spiritual world, that mirrors the same correlation amongst witches.

Y’all don’t remember the hell that came out of Kin Pride Month? Do you not remember the post I made about this that is still, still, getting notes almost daily? Let me just say it here: this is not necessary, otherkin push out enough art, inspirational quotes, stories, memories, etc. This is seriously not needed. Please. Knock it off. Most of us are already proud enough and it’s offensive as hell to begin with that you’re calling this whole thing “pride”. This failed once, and for damn good reason.

I’m gonna put the whole thing about ‘why do we need a kin pride day’ to the side for now, because its not so bad if its gonna be just a single day… but why the 24th? Honestly it should be pushed alot closer to, but not after, Samhain, like the 29th or 30th. Who came up with this date?
