mm no we aren’t.

Some transmeds are like that, too, actually. It’s a pan-human trait.

did you mean: all of you?

Glad to see my attempt at a reasonable conversation has been wasted.

The best thing, the very best thing is they just outright proved the point with their very first comment. It’s almost beautiful, in a way.

Poetic, even.

… whats a tucute?   Does it have anything to do with being too cute?

oh, my sweet summer child…

I am 41 and unfamiliar with the trans 2.0 lingo, but I read the rest of the replies and feel more educated on the matter.

Trying this again

So I realize what I previous post sounded to blunt for some people so I’m going to try this again.

For the record I’m just trying to see what other people’s opinions are on the subject. Who knows maybe my mind will be changed.

If your kin type is an animal that does not exist, you are not a therian. Yes or no?

If you have a kin type that doesn’t exist like a blue dog or a dragon you are called an other in? Yes or no?

I too are going to try this again.

The color of the animal doesn’t really make a difference.   Today we can genetically alter cats to make them glow in the dark.   So if someone was a glowing cat *before* this happened, does that mean they weren’t therian until now?

Your line of reasoning and exclusion goes down a very deep rabbit hole of assumption as to what existed before and what might exist in the future.

The only qualifier to qualify someone as therian, is if they identify as a type of animal that has been known to exist on Earth.   And being a different color or being a hybrid with another animal does not remove that label IF they still have the therianthropic attributes of that animal.

And once again it is still possible to be both otherkin and therian.

Please don’t continue down the elitist road.

P.S.  I should also note that it was actually through exploring my own fox nature that I discovered furry and I identified as therian first.

It really annoys me that there are furries calling themselves therian. You can not be a blue German Shepard. You can be a German Shepard and still call your self a therian. But if youre blue it isn’t right. I’m sorry. I also don’t understand why therians where fur suits. Wtf? This ain’t correct.

I mean, I assume therians would wear fursuits for the same reason anyone would – to have fun. I know that’s the reason I (otherkin, though not therian) want a fursuit. I also know some therians and otherkin wear tails/ears/etc to relieve species dysphoria or just to express their alterhumanity.

I see we’ve come full circle to the elitist and exclusionary attitudes that made otherkin what it is today…

The OP (and everyone liking and reblogging the OP without a rebuttal) doesn’t really have a clue what therianthropy is.  While your “theriotype” does have something to do with it, it has more to do with therianthropic experiences that therians have (like having similar instincts, feelings, and sensations that the animal would have).   You can be therian and not even know what you are yet.

You can also be therian and otherkin and still call yourself a therian.

To be honest I don’t know yet if OP is a troll, but either way, can’t let OPs post stand uncontested.

Oh, also, lots of therians fursuit just for the relief and release from dysphoria it brings, if only temporary and partial.   It is nice to be seen and interacted with as who we really are, and barring some serious advances in genetic or nanotech techonologies, its not like we can just go out and get some surgeries/treatments to fix it, so let us have our fursuits kthx.

I see people complaining about tumblrkin, and how we need to “get rid of the bad members of our community”, but I rarely see these fabled beings. Are they real, or just glorified strawmen?

aestherians:

They are very real, but they’re in no way ‘bad members’ or malicious. They’re misinformed, perhaps a bit naïve, and, more often than not, new to the community. Fluffy ‘kin deserve all the same respect and decency with which you would treat any other person. But we also owe it to the rest of the community to give them a kind (if sometimes stern) explanation of what they might’ve misunderstood about otherkinity and how this all works.

Pushing people away from perhaps the only community they can fully relate to helps absolutely no one, but neither does ignoring fluff. It’s about finding the balance between acceptance and education.

I would have to say that it is actually a mix of trolls being so prevalent on tumblr (making thousands of kin blogs with designer genders and pronouns and dozens of kintypes) that they are defining otherkin for a generation, and then the legit kin out there who see only these examples on tumblr and running with it.   It’s making being otherkin very difficult right now.

shoku-and-awe:

きつねうどん // Kitsune Udon
These noodles are so thick… The topping is called いなり inari, and it’s a thin sheet of sweetened fried tofu. Inari is supposed to be the favorite food of the mythical fox spirit [きつね // kitsune], which is where this dish gets it name.

The kitsune is a trickster and a shape shifter and also the reason you say “moshi moshi” when you pick up the phone—foxes can’t pronounce moshi moshi, so you know that the person on the other end is really a person. It’s like a password. (I’m almost pedantic enough to say shibboleth.)

But I’ve always wondered why the fox can’t pronounce this specific phrase—is it the mo? is it the shi? is it the combination? Could a fox manage just a single moshi? Are there other words that foxes can’t pronounce? Also, since it’s really only the person who picks up who has to say moshi moshi, couldn’t a fox avoid this by making the call for itself? If foxes can operate phones. And who am I to say they can’t?

And Japan does have a phone scam problem. It’s called ore-ore sagi [オレオレ詐欺], ore being a way of saying ‘me’ and sagi being ‘fraud’. Basically, someone calls you up saying, “It’s me, it’s me, I’m in trouble, wire me money,” and you, being old or confused or just very trusting, do as they say. There’s a huge public awareness campaign about it, but moshi moshi doesn’t seem to help…

Lifehack for all of the foxes out there, I use this one alot.

If someone on the phone says “moshi moshi” to you, respond with “moshi mochi”.   Most humans are too dumb to notice the difference and those who do, well maybe they will send you delicious ice cream balls.
